Filtering blocks

I'm using the simple document block from the Foundation package to build a technical library of sorts. What I'd like to do is have those blocks filterable by a form at the top of the page, similar to the way some of the portfolio themes apply filters to masonry block items.

Any thoughts or known methods of accomplishing this?
