Folder permissions in File Manager
Permalink
Hi there
I was wondering if someone could help me please.
I am building a new page on a site for client who would like only registered users to view. This page will contain some files to download too. The client only wants those registered users to view the files and not anyone else.
I believe I can create a folder in my file manager and put permissions on it, however when i right click my folder the only option is "Edit name" - I can't seem to edit anything else-let alone see permissions. I have one file in the folder currently. I am admin on this site so I think i should have rights to do everything.
I am using Concrete5 version 8.2.1
Thank you in advance!
Laura

Thanks Pine Creative. I was having a hard time finding file permissions fro the file manager.
Well it turns out that you can't change the owner from the cpanel. My solution was to contact my hosting and have me transferred to another server of theirs that used FastCGI, which made all my files' owner Apache (instead of null, or nobody, what it was before).

In the dashboard go to: Dashboard > Systems & Settings > Files > File Manager Permissions.
The first three in the list (see attached screenshot) are the main things you may need to change.
You may first want to create a user group that will only have access to view / download files. You could set the user group to automatically remove users after a certain amount of time. Then, users will need to be added to this group.
Under "View Files" and "Search File Folder", add the group (or specific users) to this permission, and make sure to save it. Under "Edit File Folder", only admins should have access to this unless preferred otherwise.
I hope that helps.
