Forms and data protection laws SSL
Permalink
Hi there,
According to data protection laws I need to make secure the information that is sent from my clients website via email.
I know I can add SSL to the pages with the forms on, but does anyone know if this is enough to make it fully secure?
Thanks

No, that will only secure information sent/received between the client computer and the web server.
It is not possible to send secure emails (well, it's possible but not through conventional emails -- google for "secure email" to find some services that will do this kind of thing, one I've used in the past is called "kryptiq" -- but these all require doing things and paying for the service outside of C5 and your web hosting).
So... basically don't send sensitive info via email (e.g. credit card numbers).

Thanks for your replies.
Ollie - isn't that fully secure then? I don't quite understand.
Basically there's no credit card details, just personal information - emails, addresses etc. Would SSL be enough for that?

SSL is only for websites -- you can't use SSL in emails (at least not in a way that is compatible with 99% of people's email systems out there -- unless you use a third-party service).
