Please Have a look at the 5.7 core structure. The built in gathering block should be taking care of forum functionality.
Cool thanks. I thought that was more of a layout assistant but I'll take a look. Happen to have a finished product (forum) I could check out as an example?

Try the "conversation" block from the social media section I found as a part of a forum, but how to use it topic related without creating new pages over dashboard I didn't find out right now, but if, then I will post here.
I'm search long time for a good structured, well featured and nice styled forum, but didn't found one. Seams to be an unsolvable task for the most programmer. Everything I saw on other websites is boring (missing structure, not useful filter or search functions). And when their forum getting big with a lot of topics and comments then all of them losing the overview and to navigate in them is terrible, including keeping overview of your own comments.
If anyone is out there with the necessary programming skills and the target to create one, I would like to support it with providing feature and HMI requirements to get one developed the first time what gives me satisfaction.
