Function: Add Layout

How come when I am working on a Default of a Page Type, where I can activate which pages are Child Page of this Default (setup on Child Pages), I cannot use the special function 'Add Layout', where I can devide a Block into 3 Cells (like a table) called Layout 1, Cell 1, Layout 1, Cell 2, and so on?
Also: where (file or database) is this managed?

Unfortunately, layouts aren't available from the defaults section. We're working on making this happen.
Copying a Layout with its content to other pages?
Hi Andrew, hope you can help me to show, how I can copy a Layout (in the Header Nav) with all it's content in it. The content exists of two rows of 16 small square blocks of images. I will copy these to all my other pages (as a header). Thank you :).

Hi BeeKay,
if you still need to have this, try creating a table with the basic content block and add the images there. Works as well as a "layout".

Hope you're still working on making this happen. It would be really useful to me at least.
Agreed. This needs to happen
I think there are plans to completely re-work the way layouts work in 5.7.
