Gallery with custom thumbnails (colours) ?
Hi all,
my client requires a gallery for their Concrete5 site that allows users to choose colours from a grid of coloured thubnails. Once a certain colour is chosen from the grid of thumbnails another image will appear in the main gallery window demonstrating the product in a different colour, just like the example in the link below.

Although the above example looks like a colour picker I envisage our solution working as a normal gallery but with individually coloured thumbnails. I don't mind if the custom thumbnails are generated by another Jpeg image or by hexadecimal colour codes. Also, the client has requested that the thumbnail grid is positioned to the left of the main image, as per the example in the above link.
Can anyone recommend a Concrete5 add-on that can carry this out?
I've been looking at the Gallerific add-on by JB1 – it has the desired thumbnail grid layout but it doesn't look like it can generate custom thumbnails.
Upon reading into the Gallery block add-on (by Concrete5) I noticed that you can control the gallery thumbnails via Attributes – see below.

Can this method of controlling thumbnails be used on other Concrete5 gallery add-ons such as Gallerific? Unfortunately, the Gallery block by C5 is a pop-up gallery and does not meet the requirements of my clients brief.
Thanks for reading, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! :)
Best regards

Hi John,
cheers for your input here, it was very much appreciated.
Just to let you know, I ended up contacting JB1 who developed the Gallerific addon and he offered to modify Gallerific to allow a choice of coloured thumbnails or cropped image thumbs.
It all works great and this feature will be on future releases of Gallerific.
Massive thanks for JB1 for this - I would definitely recommend his development services and add-ons to anyone.

For the overall display imagine a fileset with one image for each colour. Then associated with each image file is a colour attribute that contains the RGB for the swatch.
A list of the fileset is then loaded and the attributes used to generate a list of colour blocks as links. When clicked the link then shows the appropriate image for the attribute.
This isn't a solution, just a different way to visualise the problem, so may help.
With that in mind, you could get most of what you want with a custom template for 'List Files From Set' addon or probably a custom template for many of the slideshow or slider addons.
There may also be an addon for ecommrece that does something like this.
