Help! Can't select a user in advanced permissions!

Hi all,
I've run into an annoying problem/bug: I'm trying to assign an advanced permission to a specific user, and when I click on that user's username, I'm taken to the 'View User' page rather than that user being selected.

The website in question is on 5.6.1.2 - it was originally running 5.6.0.2 but I updated it a few months ago. As you can see in the video, I downloaded and installed a fresh 5.6.2.1 and there was no problem, so I really don't know what's causing this.
If anyone has any clue into what's going on and how to fix this I would be MASSIVELY grateful. Cheers!

Instead of clicking on the user's name, check the box next the the user's name and click the "Add User" button in the top right of the screen. That should do the trick.
Nope, that doesn't do it. That just takes me to the 'add new user' page.
I've just updated to 5.6.2.1 and manually replaced the core concrete5 directory, and still this problem persists. It's seriously annoying!
