Help? Please? (No really.....PLEASE?!?) I need custom member profile pages - asap!

I desperately need to find a way to allow members to add custom content to their profile pages. Right now, whenever anyone adds content to any member page, it shows up everywhere. If I sign a guestbook on one page, it shows up everywhere a guestbook is placed on the site. I wanted it to just show up on that person's page.

In a perfect world, the system would simply recognize the signed-in user as having admin privileges when viewing their own profile page, and display the edit/add (but not the dashboard) menu buttons at the top of the page, allowing them to select/edit the layout and add blocks to their own pages. (I figure a member should be able to have "admin"-level access to their own page - right?!)

At a bare minimum, I need to find a way to have each member's page have a personal photo gallery, guestbook, video library, and assorted other blocks that display the content for that member and not just display everything across the entire site.

Now, before you say to make individual pages for each and just give each person write access to the page, we already have over 1000 members and are rapidly approaching 1500. I'm not going to add all that in by hand.

Can this be done?

Please help. If I can't figure out how to do this, the last year of work goes down the tubes and I have to switch back over to SocialEngine - and I REALLY don't want to do that.

Hi,

Something sounds horribly wrong!

All the things you want are in place by default?

Members adding and editing profile page, sending and receiving private messages, etc.

Dashboard button should not show?

What blocks are you using that puts content everywhere?

When putting members in a members group they should not have dashboard access, members don't need to have 'admin' level access.

Only admin has dashboard access unless you change permissions.

If you need to further restrict members adding certain content you may want to enable 'advanced permissions'.

Have you set 'Users and Groups' properly and 'Login & Registration'?

As I said in my post, I want to allow users to have their own photo galleries, guestbooks, video/audio players, and so on. I can put the elements on the page, but the members don't have the ability to edit them and they show up on ALL profile pages with the same content in all of them. How do I change that?

Did you read my post?

All elements are in place by default!

You don't need to put elements on the page, only restrict them!

Please read my post again and explain gently how you set 'Users and Groups'

Yes, I read your post. I was simply trying to explain what was happening when I tried to add content to a profile page. As for how I have the Users and Groups set up, I have 4 groups and about 1000 members evenly divided among them. I have several user attributes set up and those display perfectly. However (for example) if anyone posts a "comment" in the guestbook on their page, that comment shows up on everyone's page. And I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to add photo/video/audio blocks so members can add their content to them without just merging them into one global instance with the same content showing up everywhere.

when i read your post, you just want to build apps like facebook isn't it?
Profile page is a single page(system page), so if yau add block there, it will show in other user profile too.
maybe you can add attribut to trigger that behavior or buy some blog add on that have this feature, gallery, video, etc2x
