In experimenting with registration, I checked the box to register using email address and saved it. I'm now locked out of my site and can't change it back because I can't register as Admin.
I think you need to use your email address instead of your username (admin) to login..
I can login using my email with a new password, but I can't edit anything unless I login as admin with the original password, which I can't. Therein lies the problem.
Try logging in with the email address that you used when you setup the site originally and the original password.
Tried that with no success.
Have you tried doing the Forgot Password form? If you enter the correct email address it should send you a forgot password link so you can reset it and get back in.
Yes, I did "Forget Password" and changed my password. I can login to the site using my email and the new password, but not as administrator. I must have administrator rights to continue building my site.
You have two users, the admin which is the original email address setup, and then a registered member, which is the one you created with the Registration form.
You need to do the forgot password for the original email address, not the one you used on the Registration form.
You need to do the forgot password for the original email address, not the one you used on the Registration form.
If you access your database (use the link for myPhpAdmin or similar tool) and browse your User folder it should refresh your memory of the Admin email. Compare it to the one you're using to see if the correct one is being used to request the password change.

I did that. The original email and the one used in registration are actually one and the same. Changing the password is not working, so I need to try something else.
I found a forum post that talks about ways to work around this issue. Here is the link;

The problem is, I haven't figured out how to access the database. I thought I would try downloading phpMyAdmin. The steps for getting phpMyAdmin to view your database may be simple, but if someone knows any shortcuts or can give me step by step directions on using it, that would be appreciated. I'm still pretty green at this.

Depending on your host provider, the best/easiest method may vary. For instance, Arvixe uses Cpanel as a user interface for the server and there is a link already there for PhpMyAdmin. Other providers I've had experience with had something similar. Do you mind sharing who your host provider is so another user with experience with them can advise you?

It is not hosted, yet. I was trying to finish a couple of things, today and planned on signing up with Arvixe when completed. It looks like I need to go ahead and do that, now!
My site is now hosted.
