Hi all, new to Concrete 5, please be nice!

Hi all.

I'm brand new to Concrete 5, I have been reviewing Wordpress but I don't really understand how it works, so I read the reviews and thought Concrete may be the way forward.

However, I have a question...

I currently build my websites using a drag and drop html builder (WYSIWYG V8). I am building a website for a gym and then want to be able to have content on two pages editable (so just two text boxes, absolutely nothing else, no page layouts or anything like that). Unfortunately, the CMS solution within WYSIWYG is poor to say the least... can I overlay Concrete over the top of my website to do what I need, and if so, is it easy?

Thanks in advance all!

OJ

Yes it is pretty easy to start up with. You just need to follow the documentation, get connected with C5 forum. You can find all kind of help from there. This is a very responsive forum.

Thanks Citytech.

Is what I am after above possible? I've never got to grips with things like Wordpress Themes and widgets and all those other things... I'd much rather design the website the way I want it in HTML and then stick a CMS solution over the top of it...

There is a concept of block. You can add different kind of blocks anywhere of a page. Just need to click on the edit button of corresponding page & click on a Area to add a block. There are different types of blocks available like html, editor, image, flash, nav menu, search box and many more. If you have content with some extend of html tags, just choose html block & paste it. Click Publish & here you are with the page as you want to be.

You may find this provides some useful background, though I suspect you already know a fair amount of it:

If you can handle some basic php coding, you can also turn one of your existing web pages into a c5 theme.
