Hide page from nav, but not search results

Hi,

I have a news section on my site, with a main News page that uses a refined page view block to list all the child pages (the news articles) created under it.

When creating one of the news articles I tick the Exclude from Nav checkbox so that the page doesn't appear in the main site navigation (which would soon become very unwieldy), but in so doing I believe that the article is then excluded from searches carried out on the site and also the search engines can't index it.
Am I right in saying that?

If so, is there a way to exclude the page from appearing in the main navigation but still be searchable and indexable (I realise that's not a word!)

Thanks in advance,
Tony.

I do a similar thing, with a main news page and news articles underneath.

If i search for a particular keyword contained wihtin an article, the article is listed in my search results.

Thanks for that reply.

I guess it's safe to assume that the search engines won't have any problems indexing those pages excluded from the nav too.
