How do I add a file download within a Page List element?

I'll outline what I'm trying to do...
I'm constructing a kind of Product Catalog by creating a page for each product, aliasing these product pages as sub-pages within the sitemap, then listing them on a 'category page' using a Page List block (actually the Sollos Page List Add-on).
It all works beautifully, but on each product page, there is a PDF datasheet download. Now if this was just a regular content block etc. I could simply add a link to the file, but because I'm working with a Page List (which is essentially a reference to the page) I don't know how to pull the file download over.
The sticking point is that my client doesn't want a click-thru to another page. He just wants the download to be accessible from this 'Category' page.
I'm trying to get my head around Custom Page Attributes, but not being a PHP whizz, I'm getting stuck. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I've added an Image/File attribute so I can choose this from within the Custom Attributes in the Page Properties, but haven't a clue how to get this to appear.
