How does concrete's filemanager work?
Hey
I'm just wondering how Concrete's filemanager actually works. The output of multiple nested folders seems quite odd to me.
I thought it's a strange way of doing it, but thought ok...must be a reason.
What really blew my mind is when I found 2 images in one folder...suddenly realised I really don't get it.
And what about all the empty folders?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

mmm...but how do 2 files end up in the same folder?
not a problem really...just want to find out the workings behind it.
All the files are uploaded at the same time.
some have urls of xxx/yyy/zzz/image
but then multiple images might sometimes end
up in xxx/yyy/zzz and xxx/yyy/aaa.
As I said - not a problem - just confuses me as to why/how it does that.

this is something completely different. I was talking about the sets in the dashboard.
The "real filesystem folders" are generated automatically. There are a few reasons why you shouldn't put 10 million files in on folder. C5 puts them in different folders to avoid this issue.
Looks a bit annoying for small sites but is a good thing if you have a huge site with lots of files

You can assign multiple sets to a file and filter by sets. It's a bit like gmail but not so much like any other file management.
