How to build a custom template

Can't find any reference in How-to's section. Are there some docs that support this?

Do you mean 'Theme' or 'Override' ? There are many howtos for 5.6 on both subjects.
I want to make a custom template for the page list that gets more page data, headline, intro and image.

For a page list. there are detailed comments in the core page list view and templates. There are also some alternate templates free in the marketplace, so you can see how they are built and integrated.
