How to default hide from auto nav?
Couldn't find an answer to this in the forums (although it's probably in there somewhere...).
Trying to make a page type automatically excluded from the auto nav block. So I changed the exclude_nav attribute to be "checked by default" and the page type in question to include the exclude_nav attribute.
Should work, right?
It doesn't. The page appears in the auto-nav. If I go to the page and check properties the exclude_nav is there and checked. If I then hit "save" (without changing anything) the page is then excluded from the auto-nav as expected.
It seems that I shouldn't have to confirm the page's properties for this to take effect.
Is this the way this is supposed to work? Is there another way to accomplish the goal?

Have you checked it in the defaults for the page type? As in, Dashboard > Pages and Themes > Page Types > Defaults, then Edit that page and change the page attribute there.
Thanks for your suggestion!
I *thought* I did try that already, but I must have been confused (and that *never* happens! :-). Your solution seems to have done the trick, and is simpler than the way I was going about it.
Thanks again!
