How to present a pdf file too large for the file manager

I would like to place a link to a pdf file that is too large for the file manager. The choices in the content block when I use the built in link tool does have a pdf inline option.

What are my other choices?

Many thanks...

Todd

Hi there,

not sure about using google docs maybe, I never tried this but there's some add ons up here for this purpose.
Or you could upload your pdf via ftp and then copy its url
to one of the free iframe add ons that are kicking around in the marketplace.
I tried this and it worked for me.
Do not try to insert an iframe simply into an html block, it breaks the edit mode and the edit buttons just disappear. Not sure why, but I made the mistake twice, forcing me to delete the affected page completely and replace it from scratch.

Thank you all for your help with this challenge. By chance, the organization who owns the site happens to also have a gmail account, so on a whim, I uploaded the file to their Gdrive. With some poking around on Google, I found a Google site that converts the link that I generated for access to the pdf file; converts it to a download format:

https://sites.google.com/site/gdocs2direct/...

Works quite well:http://www.greaterbendrotary.com/index.php/ad-sales-campaign/...

Hi Todd!

You could try uploading it via FTP to [root]/files/incoming and then go to the File Manager and choose 'Upload Multiple' and then choose the 'Add Incoming' tab. This might bypass the upload limit on your server.

Hey Todd, this can be a bit of quick and dirty way if the pdf quality is not beneficial. You can open the pdf in Acrobat, then go to "Print" and for your Printer, choose the "Print as PDF" option. Then follow the steps / prompts. It dramatically downsizes your pdf, though will lower the quality of images etc.

I normally create a new directory on my server and call it 'downloads'. In that directory/folder I upload my pdf files.

I then link to my pdf's in the normal way using the content block by selecting my text, picking the 'link' icon, filling in the right url and choosing blank as target.

Example:http://mysite.co.uk/downloads/something.pdf...
