How to prevent pagelist next/previous from reloading the page and dumping you at the head?

This sounds like an Ajax thing but I'm not 100% sure. I have seen similar questions but not really any exact answers. I don't see why this is not the default behavior of the pagelist?
I'd like to click next or previous and have the new pages load without having to reload the page.

What Block (type) did you add and what are the links like in your pagination? Seems to me like you have a theme that may be targeting your pagination, but isn't doing the work it should do (since it should reload the page, as it's not returning JSON by default).
