IE 8.0. and display issues

Hi,

When viewing my site in IE8.0.7601.17514 (using a purchased theme) what is one line of navigation becomes two - AND - the login and copyright information in the footer does not display.

Works great in Safari, Chrome, Firefox. No bugs reported in Firefox.

I will be testing it in other versions of IE today.

Any suggestions on a fix aproach?

Additional information:

A view of source will show the footer content. Will try to see if I can discover what it doesn't like but guidance on what to search for would be helpful - or the knowledge that IE just "does this".. :-)
