Image Block with wrong file broke website

Hey everyone,
Client using 8.1 tried uploading a PDF file into the image block as an image. The following error gets thrown.
Any idea how to fix this. Maybe I can manually revert the page they were working on to a prior version? I'm locked out of the site and have to fix it from command line.

Turns out I can clear cache and get into file manager, but I cannot delete the file causing the problem from the file manager ( it times out ). How do I remove the file using the command line?
Now I've found the problematic file under the application/files folder, and I've removed it. This lets the site load again, but the file still shows in the file manager and I cannot delete it from there without it timing out. Is there something in the database I need to remove to do a full removal of the file?
I ended up doing a command line upgrade to version 8.2. This solved the image problem and I was able to remove the bad file from the file manager successfully.
But upgrading the version broke a couple of plugins, so now I'm off to fix those.
