I am new to web sites and concrete5. This may be a stupid question but when I try to insert an image I get a message of invalid file. The file I am trying to load is a JPEG and try as I might it will not load into the site. I have discovered it is not only the file I uploaded to file manager but all other files supplied as samples won't load either and get the same message. Please could someone HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please supply some more info:

- can you upload and then browse the uploaded images OK in the file manager?

- what block type are you inserting the images into?

- what process are you following to insert the images?

Yes I can upload images OK but can't load choose as I get the message.
I am using the image block.I select to add a block (in edit mode) when it asks what type I ask for image it then asks to upload from my computer an image JPEG which it lets me do and deposits it in image file manager. but when I choose the image it the tells me it is an invalid file

If you find yourself getting an 'Invalid File' error when trying to upload your files to your Concrete5 website, try checking the 'Allowed File Types' to see if you have included the file type you wish to upload.

By default, Concrete5 includes over 35 file types for you too choose from, however, you may find yourself using some obscure file type that isn't available in the list. This is an easy fix and should take you no more than 30 seconds!

1. Go to Dashboard ->

2. System and Settings ->

3. Permissions & Access->

4. 'Allowed File Types'... see if you have any file types listed.

If not; add the following file types-

flv, jpg, gif, jpeg, ico, docx, xla, png, psd, swf, doc, txt, xls, xlsx, csv, pdf, tiff, rtf, m4a, mov, wmv, mpeg, mpg, wav, avi, m4v, mp4, mp3, qt, ppt, pptx, kml, xml

If your filetype isn't there, simply add it to the list. Separate with comma's.

Once you've added your file type, go back to the file manager and try uploading the file again. It should now work!

This could be caused by file extension case. Its very close to what @wagdi is describing.

By default, c5 is only configured to process lowercase extensions .jpg and .jpeg. A sometimes quirk of the uploader if uploading from windows, is you manage to upload .JPG or .JPEG. But then once uploaded you cant use them.

You may be able to add .JPG and .JPEG to the accepted file types, but that does not guarantee the image block will show them to you, so the best solution (if my guess is right) is to make sure you upload .jpg or .jpeg.

Failing that, please post some screengrabs of what you are seeing:
