Impact of using APP_TIMEZONE

I am using concrete5 v5.6.3.3. After I completed developing the website, the client wanted all the timings to be in a particular timezone. I did some research and found out that using APP_TIMEZONE you can set the time zone of the website to whatever you want. However, I am not really sure of the impact that it has on the website, since, it changes the timezone of PHP but MySQL will still be of the server timezone.

Also, in "Full Sitemap", when I keep saving the page, the "Public Date" value keeps changing because of the timezone. This seems like a bug to me.

You can set the timezone of mysql in your my.cnf (if you have access to that), or on shared hosting you can set this immediately after connecting to the server. In straight MySQL it looks like this in PHP:

mysql_query("SET time_zone='America/Los_Angeles'");
To do so, I think you would need to overload the libraries/loader.php
