'An unexpected error occurred'. Not upgrading.

After moving from a local WAMP to remote LAMP, I cannot view any page as admin without getting blocked by the message shown in the attached screenshot.
I took case sensitivity of table names into account, and I followed all instructions on moving a site carefully. I am looking for and following advice on this very problem on other forum posts, but I made this one because I am having little luck. I am not upgrading from a previous version.
Where can I find additional information to diagnose the problem on my server? I am with HostGator, and my error log is empty.

You're awesome.
site.php changes had no effect but it never occurred to me to check the logs table!
Thanks to your suggestion, I found the error.
Exception Occurred: mysql error: [1146: Table 'radiobot_sgcom.btDashboardNewsflowLatest' doesn't exist...
My table was named btDashboardNewsFlowLatest. Note the F.
The error popped up whenever C5 wanted to bring up the login splash, and it kept trying each time I went somewhere after logging in.

Awesome!
Since you are using 5.5+ can you just remove the base_url and dir_rel lines from the site.php?
could you take a look at the logs table in the database?
