Integrating ISSUU Smart Look
Permalink
I am evaluating Concrete5 as a platform to re-build our Scout District website. One of the new features we want to integrate is improved viewing of PDF files.
I like the look of ISSUU' Smart Look viewer (seehttp://issuu.com/smartlook) but am having a problem getting it to work.
All that is needed from ISSUU's side is to put their javascript in the body field, just like a tracking code. I've done this but the integration doesn't work.
I think it is because the URL to the PDF file that gets embedded in the page is not a full URL: it is a call to a PHP file with some parameters. The parameters do not include the PDF file itself and thus ISSUU fails to trigger.
Can this behaviour be changed?

Hi Gareth,
small world - I'm about 12 miles away from Letchworth....
OK - the issue is the way that Concrete5 serves files.
There might be a better way but the only way I can see that this will work easily is if you create a manual link to the file rather than using the C5 file link.
e.g if you go to the file manager and look at the properties of your pdf it will give you the full path - if you copy that and then just paste it in the content block as a normal link via the wysiwyg that should work for you.
Is a little bit more long-winded but...

Thanks Andy
That's a real shame, as it pretty much blows Concrete5 out of the water.
The site will be maintained by naive users and must be extremely simple to use. At the same time, smart viewing of PDF files uploaded by these naive users is a must.
Perhaps somebody else can come up with a solution; otherwise I will have to look elsewhere.

it would help if you posted the page that you have added the code to for people to look at. That way maybe someone will spot what the issue is.
