Is it normal for the Superfish Nav bar to "bounce" in while rendering

My Superfish Nav addon "bounces" or "stretches" into place when the page is rendering. It looks like this happens as the menu is sizing the tabs into place. Is that just the way it works? Anyone else see this as an issue? Anyway to fix it?
I assume it is a function of the dynamic build of the menu. But my users see it as weird and not as solid as the prebuilt, hard-coded menus it competes against.
