Licence for Modules and Blocks
Permalink
Hi there,
is it possible to release blocks or modules under the GPL licence (or LGPL). I think it would bne a good idea to have a list somewhere of Concrete5 compatible licenses.

crap I wrote a really long diatribe about the complex issues around licensing right now and lost it...
shorter version, GPL will do for now. we've got some big stuff to scratch our heads on that you'll be hearing from me later on.

Hmm I thought that the GPL doesn't allow for non-GPL linking (includes, requires), correct me if I'm wrong here...
This way madness lies ;-)
I think you're correct, in that none of the blocks licensed under the GPL will ever be something we can roll back in the core, without making the rest of the core GPL.
However distributing the core as we do, and making GPL blocks available for download, is a different animal, right?
(To say nothing of LPGL'd blocks, which I think would be includable in the core - right?)

As long as the GPL stuff doesn't require stuff that's LESS permissive, I think it's kosher.
I've built a block that uses GPL, it will soon be published in the marketplace.
Feel free to use GPL or LGPL
