Link not recognized - Please help

I am pulling my hair out! I developed the site concurrently with the old site and not that I am finished I deleted the old site and one link (deutsch) on the index page will not load the page it is linked to! Funny enough the other link (english) on the page does! I have redone the link, I have cleared the cache, I have tried it in four browsers and it still forwards me to the sign in page. Could someone please help? I am desperate.

Actually, a whole directory of pages doesn't link or show up. I can see them in full sitemap but they come up missing when I click links to them from other pages
I have been able to solve the problem by changing the permissions on each individual page but that raises the question: what did I unknowingly do to change the permissions on a few pages? Anybody got an idea what it could have been?
