list pages from specific date

How would you do that? Fe. I would like to list first three pages ( using public date ) but closest to today.
I find it bad choice doing it through page list custom template if not impossible too.

Could someone show simple example how to customize PageList to show Pages with Public Date set after specific date.

yeah, i've never done that. I think the page list block would be a good place to start, but it doesnt have that built into it.
