Localization of C5
Permalink
Hi,
Did my best searching through the help forum but can't really find how we could make a translation into a different language for version 5.3.x
Any ideas?

Apparently I've been looking at the wrong place ;-)
Hi indisbaltic,
I wonder if you could shed some light here, as I'm in the dark...
How can I create a new locale for 5.3.3 from scratch?
Any help highly appreciated.
Best regards,
-Costa

you probably should send Andrew a message so he can create the folders in svn for you

Get the latest .po file here:
http://svn.concrete5.org/svn/concrete5-i18n/templates/trunk/message...
Use an editor like Kbabel, Lokalize, gTranslator, or poEdit to translate it.

How do you merge an older messages.po with already a lot of work into the new .po?
I usually use KBabel to simply rough translate the new file using the old one.
The recommended way it to use 'msgmerge' on Linux or Mac (I guess) like:
msgmerge -N old.po new.po
Make sure to keep a backup copy just in case.
