Login Failure after upgrades
Permalink
I'm helping with someone else's site (http://blindsports.on.ca/ ) and am now having login issues :(
This site was upgraded in steps from 5.3.3.1 to 5.6.1.2 and the add-ons updated as well.
Now after attempting to log in, you are directed to a second membership form/login page instead of the main site as it did originally.
I have found, however, If you tic the "Remain logged in" option you are still sent to the member login form but you are able to open a new window on your browser, enter the site URL and you will be logged in.
I have tried to log in with cache on and off, and also with Pretty Url's on and off. The results are the same.
Anyone able to help out?
Edit: have also tried using an old version login single page in the override folder to see if it was that... no improvement
Edit again: Just noticed it won't add a new block either :(

Hey Mike,
I'm using an admin group log-in instead of the Super user. The login worked prior to upgrades but now sends me to a user/member form instead of to the site.

Could you try it with the admin user? admin avoids a lot of permissions, so this would help us to narrow down if it is related to permissions or something else.

Mike,
I reset the Super User pw and tried to log in with the same error. I was directed to a full registration page instead of the site. Tried again but tic'd the "stay logged in" selection and although I was still mis-directed, could open a new window and was logged in normally there.
Then: I created a new user account for me that required me to fill out the user registration form and the log-in works normally.
Apparently the new user required fields are now being forced on the original admin accounts created prior to the public user registration creation.
I am also still experiencing the problem adding a new block, although existing ones can be edited.

Mike,
Thanks for the tip on logging in as super user... it got me looking in other areas. Although the original log-in process is still faulty, creating new registrations for the few editors should solve the issue.
The block adding issue was related to an old theme that was still installed. Removing it corrected the conflict.
Thanks

I take it you are having this issue with the core version of the login controller.php not an override? It sounds to me like maybe you have a redirect going on somewhere that is redirecting to a page that maybe you don't have permission to see?
Are you seeing this with the admin(Super User)?
