Make latest post my homepage
Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi
I just started with C5. I want my latest post to be my homepage. So every time I post a new article, that post must become my home page. I have already posted two articles and when I visit my site I see the "Welcome to Concrete5" page which is the default home page. Any help with that please?
Daniel.

You can add a blog list or page list block to your home page. Make it list one post in full and sort by latest.
Thanks for the reply, I'm not 100% sure what you mean though. Got a faint idea. I will play around with it and see if I get it right.
What he is saying is to add the page list block and set it to display the pages under the blog archive page. Then tell it to display the most recent and to display the entire post.
Sorry, but I'm getting nowhere with this cryptic advice. But thanks for trying.
If you have a look at the blocks on you main blog page, the main block there will either be a page list block or (depending on the blog package) a specialised blog list block.
This block scans all your blog pages and lists them with a summary.
You can add such a block to your home page. Set it to list by latest and only 1, and to show all of the entry (not to truncate it). So you end up with a list of 1 most recent post with a summary that is actually all of the post.
If the block is a page list (rather than a specialised blog list), you may also want to look at some of the marketplace addon templates and variations for page lists, for further content and formatting options.
Further details depend on which blog package you are using.

There was another configuration on 'custom template' that needed to be set. Got it working now. Thank you.
1. Go to the homepage
2. Select 'Edit' to put the page in edit mode
3. Find 'Add to main' >> Click on 'Add to main'
4. Select 'Add Block'
5. Select 'Page List' from the list (Should be the 6th one down the list)
6. Configure the 'Page List'>>
6.1. Under 'Number and Type of Pages', set it to 'Display 1' & then set it to display 'pages of type- 'blog entry' OR '**All**'
6.2. Under 'Location in Website - Display pages that are located: 'beneath another page'
6.3. Click on 'Select Page'
6.4. Select the 'Blog' page
6.5. Under 'Sort Pages' >> Select 'Pages should appear' >> 'with the most recent first'
6.6. Now your done configuring the 'Page List' block >> click 'ADD' to add the block to the page.
7. You should now see ONLY your most recent blog post in your homepage
I'm not sure if I've missed anything (trying to do this from memory); If I have, then please feel free to correct me. Hope it helps!

Thanks for a (almost) complete description. I did all that and then only a list of my blog titles will show up. Then I clicked on the block that was added and on the dropdown list there is an option 'custom template' I clicked on that and selected 'blog entry' from the dropdown list and walla! my blog came up.
Thank you.
Thank you.
