Modal Contact form

Hi all,
I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the following:
I have a contact form that appears as a bootstrap modal. I did what I could to make the form have a static backdrop and stay on screen. But when a user hits the submit button on the form, the form clears before it gets a to validate the form or return a response.
I'm using the standard form block of CC5 in this element. I sense that might be my mistake in the first place.
But any ideas or where to point me on how to construct a modal contact form that doesn't immediately disappear on "submit" is greatly appreciated.
