Moving Blog Archive to its own page
Permalink
Hi, is there a way to move the Blog Archive page to its own separate page rather than have it in the sidebar?
This page (http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/manually-set... ) says to add the Date Navigation block to the sidebar of the main blog template, which isn't exactly what I want.
What I want is for the archive page to be entirely separate from the blog, but the way I've set it up so far inserts the archive page into the blog folder... hence into the blog posts.
Any way around this? Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much!! This worked! :)
Hi mssteph,
What you see over in the sidebar is a block called "Blog Date Archive", and this lists matching pages and the month of their creation. You can place this block on any page in your site. It can also pass the month a user clicks to a Search block that's been placed on a different page.
You can specify the page where you want this block to point when users click, so if you move the Blog Archives page to a different place in your sitemap, it should still work. Note that the Blof Archives page has a Search block set to search only pages beneath "Blog".
Hope that helps!

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your response! The Blog Date Archive works perfectly, I just have one question maybe you (or someone else) could help me with...
The "Months Link to Page" field... where should that go? If I link it to any page, it just shows that page. I'm assuming there's something I can do or a page I can create that would show the entries listed for that month, yes?
(I created a new page that displays the Search block, but that just displays... a search field. I know I'm doing it wrong.)
Any help would be great! Thanks again!
Edit: OH GOD! It worked!! Nevermind! I had to go back to the Archive page and click through after I added the search. THANK YOU!!!

well, this should be quite easy. As far as I know, the blog archive is a block, so you can add it to the main area of any page you want.
So I guess you should create a new page wherever you want and add the blog archive to its main area.
Oh, and also a search block to display the results.
Hope that helps!
