Multiple "classes" of registered users?

I'm building a C5 site, where I'd like to have a section of the site reserved for staff, and a section of the site reserved for registered users. Ideally I'd like to have two classes of registered users, much like the current administrators and registered users, except that I don't want either group to have admin rights...that wouldn't be good. ;-)

Any suggestions? I've been poking around the forums, but haven't come across anyone in a similar pickle... :-(

Karma up for grabs, people! - karma up for grabs. And gratitude! :-)

if you just create two groups with the same permissions as the registered users for their portion of the site that would work

Good morning Johan,

Just to expand on Jack's advice about making new user groups: If you haven't done so already, enabling "Advanced Permissions" is what will give you the flexibility needed to separate pages and editing access per user group. You will be able to assign editing/viewing privileges per page (or even block) to match what you need.

Thanks for the tips, guys! Exactly what I needed! :-) However, it seems that after I've added the advanced permissions line to my site.php file, I can't add new pages from the front-end, even though I'm logged in as an administrator? I can still add pages from the dashboard, so it's not a huge problem, just something that made me go "Hmm..." :-)

Karma dispensed, thanks for getting back to me so quickly! For people finding this thread, the way to add advanced permissions is by looking here:

Off to set permissions... :-)
