Need help with Video

We had a firm create a movie on one of our products. The file they gave us is an mp4. I have added it to the page using the default C5 video add-on.

The problem is that if a user goes to the page on their desktop computer, if they don't have Quicktime installed the movie pulls out of the page and opens in Windows Media Player. We don't want this to happen. We want the movie to play embedded on the page no matter what computer/device the user is viewing it on.

Is there a way to make this happen? Maybe a plugin I don't know about? Or does this require a javascript?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I strongly suggest hosting video files at a video hosting provider such as Vimeo or Youtube. Those services are designed to better serve video. That is the have much more bandwidth than where your website is hosted. With your video on one of those hosts there are a number of great add-ons in the marketplace.

Cheers,
Anthony

There is also HTML5 video, but it can be a pain to set up because you typically need different versions of the video encoded to play nice with different browsers.

It can also be tricky to set up in a responsive website so that it scales properly.

Good luck.
