As the subject line states, I'm new to C5. My background is a commercial advertising photographer. Built our website in iWeb several years ago and update / change the design as needed. Take a look athttp://www.thoenphoto.com
I have no html, css, or php, experience.
I need to remake the same site / look etc. in something other than iWeb.
C5 was recommended to me as a versatile, easy to use application.
I downloaded it, installed it on GoDaddy and started to work with the default plain yogurt theme.
1) can the blocks be resized in the edit mode? I couldn't do it.
2) If I deleted all the blocks / elements ( I want to start with a blank white page), can I add and size my own blocks? How?
3) Can I stack / overlay blocks / elements on top of each other? (that is how I achieved some of the effects in iWeb)
C5 looked promising; I viewed the getting started videos, and many others on YouTube starting back with the 1st video cast. But as I try to recreate what I did on iWeb it's looking like if you don't have any experience in html, css, php, then your limited to a stock theme.
I'm looking for suggestions from those of you who are much more knowledgeable in C5. Please look at my sitehttp://www.thoenphoto.com and give me your input as to can this be done in C5 without the experience of html, css, php, coding.
Thanks in advance for your help!

That being said, you can control the size of blocks using layouts. When clicking "Add to [Area]" use Add Layout instead of Add Block. Then you can resize the layout and insert blocks into it. You can start with a very plain, simple theme, such as The Void or Modernist, if you want to directly control all the styling yourself.
It's definitely easier to manage if you keep styles consistent with stylesheets. Looking at your existing site, the design is simple enough that if you hired someone to replicate it I'm sure it wouldn't be very expensive, as those things go. But if you really want to do it code-free, I think a plain theme and use of layouts is your best bet.
