Odd composer behaviour

Hi all, dont know if this is what composer is supposed to do, but, when I open it up from the dash the first thing i am greeted with is the crop thumbnail interface, seems strange to me that composer kicks off with resizing a thumbnail.
Its not a massive deal, as I can just dismis it, but just want to know if this is normal, or is it a bug?

yes I have noticed this happens as well, can anyone suggest a workaround for this as it seems to default to crop of the image when the composer is opened for write.
ok it seems if you leave the Width and Height fields blank then you get an auto launch for sizing when opening Composer. So workaround is to give dimensions
