Offline Content Editor?

I love Concrete, but the main problem right now is that the lag time of editing on the server makes it take much longer than I would prefer to create new pages, set up basic content, or make batch changes as the site is being developed.
Once it has been created, I think the web interface is great, but it would be really nice to have an application that would speed up all of this.
I'm guessing that something like this would be more work than it is worth? (Other than not being on the priority list for development, I'm sure)?

you could write your content down and the copy and paste it at your site, not?
I'm not sure if I phrased the original question very well. By content, I really mean the creation of pages, blocks and setting page attributes and types. I mean the bridge between developing a theme or styles for Concrete blocks and actually fleshing out the full site.
Walking through this process gets to feel somewhat painstaking. It would be perfect if there were a way to go through some of these steps without so much UI and so much lag time. Since it all is embedded in Concrete's database, it doesn't make sense to try and do it by hand, that I know of.

c5 always been pretty fast to me, if you're referring to the system itself being slow. is it possible that the server you are running it on is what's lacking in speed?
you might also try turning off marketplace integration, as this tends to slow things down for me when it is turned on. i usually turn it off first thing after i do an install.

I also thought about something like this. And I assume it should be possible using XAMP and some SSH-Scripting. I am just not talented enough to actually do it :-)
As far as I understand, adding pages and content just changes the Database, File System will only be affected by adding Files / Packages. So shouldn't it be possible to sync a local installation with a live site? I mean - setting up a script that syncs the changes in /htdocs folder and the database ... could be possible, right?
I would appreciate something like that too :)
