Order of "Add Block" list

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I did some searching on the forums...I hope I'm not repeating something that's been covered before.

Is it possible to customize the order of the "Add Block" list the user sees when choosing a block type to add to a page? And is it possible to control which blocks appear in the list?

i believe they are in the order based on when they are added, if you look in the tables they each have a CiD assigned to each block based on the order they were installed.

i don't thing there is an easy way, besides messing with the tables

I'd be interested in this, too. Anyone have any new ideas/input on the topic? It sort of seems like a pain that the most-recently added blocks are always at the BOTTOM of the "Add Block" list. It would be nice to be able to control the order of items here so that you could customize it to have the most-frequently used blocks at the top of the list.

Yes, I have the same problem. When you have a new product and want it at the front of the list, you're out of luck. If anyone has found any answers for this problem, please send info to me.

Thanks,
Michael

As far as I know, the only way to change the order is to edit btDisplayOrder in the 'blocktypes' table in the database.

I seem to remember that someone had or was working on a solution for this. Maybe Jordanlev. Could be worth looking through C5 on github for old pull requests.

EDIT:
Just did a quick check and in 5.6+ you can drag to sort the list at dashboard/blocks/types/

Yeah, why do I never look for the easy solution...
