Our new C5 site suddenly stalling - will not load
Permalink
Hi fellow Concreters!
Recently we build our first 2 Concrete5 site for two customers.
They are running on 2 seperate mysql databases but the installations is on the same server (ftp server/www/site1 and ftp server/www/site2) and ran smoothly along eachother. However after 1 day and no changes other than simple content block updates, "site 1" stopped working. When trying to connect to the server, it just stalls and ultimately does not show a thing in the browser.
Here is the URL
http://www.websightdemo.dk/hadruplund...
We talked to our host who looked into the problem, but the problem is NOT serverside.
Do you have any experience with this issue? It makes us a bit nervous for forthcomming projects that this can happen out of the blue.
Best regards
Mikas Eskesen

the .../hadruplund/robots.txt is on the correct place and is working fine.
Can your check please with ftp if the index.php is placed in the same directory .../hadruplund/index.php like .../hadruplund/robots.txt
without ftp connect is very difficult for me, to see, what is wrong, but I think, it is not a server problem. It is maybe a wrong directory or missing file
load this:
phpinfo.php
in the same directory as .../hadruplund/robots.txt
than you can see more

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
It seems there are the same files in the "bernardshus" dir as the "hadruplund" dir. Both index.php and robots.txt is present in both.
I have uploaded a phpinfo.php up to the hadruplund dir on the server. What was supposed to happen? Does it have to have content in it, or is it a code to collect info in the dir it is placed within?
Thank you again for your help!

Here is the content of the .htaccess file in the non working hadruplund dir. I don't know if that makes sense to have a look at that?
# -- concrete5 urls start --
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /hadruplund/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

Now our host has tried to recreate from a backup to see if that helped. But the same fault persists. They now say it is probably a database error. How do I handle this?
Hope you guys can help out!

Hi Jaroslaw
Now our directory with the working site "Bernardshus" is suddenly gone. Our host have no records of who deleted it, the only thing they could see was that we had downloaded the htaccess file earlier today.
They suggested that maybe someone from outside was using our FTP, and as you are the only one I have access to, I have to ask: Have you deleted our site on websightdemo.dk?

Hi, I have seen it disappearing before my eyes and I was thinking, that you have deleted it. I was only short time looked in, to have a quick look before I had to go out to an appointment. I wanted to ask you, when I came back, if you have deleted something but you were faster.
I have done nothing, I wanted to have a proper look at the late afternoon, because I have no time before and I always do things slowly with making a backup before. I never do something before I am sure, what to do.
Is there really nobody else, who has access?

Hello again
Thank you for responding fast. I believe you ofcourse. However no one else has access, so I had to ask. The password may be simple, but still?
Perhaps it is some kind of virus? As it didnt show up in the log, maybe it has not been done by man..
I have changed the password now, and we are trying to restore both files on the FTP and databases in mySQL to the ones that were working earlier.

Sorry, that you have so much problems.
The problem can have many causes, is not easy to find out. Hope, you can manage it.

Thanks, I hope too.
Alot of hours put into those sites already, so I hope our host can help us fast..
Thank you for your time, i am a little paranoid about sending ftp information in the PMs in here from now on.
Who would make such scripts? I doubt C5 has deleted itself...

After changing our password for ftp and mysql server, we get this error:
Unable to connect to database.
A database error occurred while processing this request.
Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /var/www/www.websightdemo.dk/www/hadruplund/concrete/models/collection_version.php on line 99
Are any of you familiar with that? And how do I correct it?

Found my answer for this question here:
http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/installation/database-pas...
However, it is still not working. Waiting for my host to make the backups.

That is bad. We had problems with hacked facebook accounts and we have no more facebook. That was one year ago and we never made a new account. Since that experience, I make always very long passwords and write them in a book, because they are to long and difficult. They are difficult for others too. I use special character in my passwords.

I found this here
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/security-and...
Q: Do you know of concrete5 sites that have been hacked?
A: Not through concrete5. Sometimes someone will jump in our forums and claim their site was hacked through concrete5 because they see nefarious code introduced into the PHP files of concrete5. Invariably what’s happened is they’ve got some malware running on their local PC. It sniffs out popular FTP clients and looks for accounts where you’ve saved passwords. It then uses those logins to get into your webspace and add its crap to any PHP file it can find. Does concrete5 end up infected? Yes. Was concrete5 the hole the thing got in through? Nope, that was a sloppy client PC.

Hi Jaroslaw
Thank you - it might be our PC, eventhough I find it weird as we have newest updated and legal Kaspersky Antivirus running on all PCs.

are you sure, the link is correct? Maybe you forgot the dot between websight and demo.
websight.demo.dk
Can you give the full link to the directory?
And what is with the link to the second site?
Best regards
