Page Type defaults - Setup in child pages philosophy
Permalink
A little suggestion to core developers: expecially in articulated sites it becomes vital how to maintain control over very nested pages behaviour and formatting.
Stacks are a very good feature; more, the Page Type default setup is useful, indeed. What seems less than ideal are the mechanics for "Setup in child pages". You, rightly, let the user choose whether to apply a particular area formatting to the children; good.
But, if those childrens have additional blocks in the areas involved by the update (posted by previous choices) you don't delete them. nor put them in an intermediate stage in which they are not displayed, without being canceled, which would be the ideal choice. The final content in those pages is a mix of previous choices and new that imposes the complete review of the entire site. Bad!
This is not good in my opinion. It's a designer responsability to choose if to setup or not those child pages, but once the choice has been made, the final content has to be deterministic.
This is especially true in this moment in which the mechanism of global scrapbook must be abandoned in favor of the stack one.
I would like a comment on this point.
With my compliments
