Paying for digital download

I have set up my website for purchasing videos. I have the ecommerce add-on and the digital download add-on. I have the videos uploaded to the server and each product has the corresponding video download added. I have my website "live" with paypal as the only source of payment. In theory, someone should add product to shopping cart, go to payment, go to paypal website and pay then they would get an email with the links to download the videos. I had a customer order 3 videos from me this way. I never received an email showing me there was a purchase, it is not showing up in my "orders" section of the ecommerce tab and the customer did not get the links to download the videos. What is going on?
Is the problem that when you pay with paypal; you are acutally leaving my website so you have to return to the website for everything to trigger on the website and go through or am I missing a setting somewhere?
I tried out the website with the "default gateway" before I went live with paypal and it worked just right. I do not have a paypal sandbox account so I cannot try it out.
Please help!

Okay. I set up a paypal sandbox account and went all the way through the process. After payment with paypal is complete there is a "return to merchant" button. The first customer must not have clicked on this because in my test mode when I clicked on this button it took me back to my website and showed the download links.
How to I make paypal "return to merchant' automatic?

I believe this is a Paypal question, not C5. There should be a setting in your Paypal profile to set "Auto Return ON" to make that return button disappear. If you set up an Website Payments Standard test account in the sandbox, that should show up in the profile for the individual test account's settings.

I set up the auto return and the return to address is the website homepage. I went through a purchase with sandbox and it did not auto return I still had to click the return to merchant button. I do not know what I did wrong.

I still cannot get my website to work correctly.
I set up Paypal sandbox account and went through the process of purchasing videos. I signed into sandbox and placed the order.
The order went through even when I didnt click the return to merchant button. Then I made the website live again but when someone placed an order, it still did not work correctly. The trigger did not go through so they could get the links to download the videos.
