PDfs show up as link

Hi All,
I've added pdf files via the content manager into pages of the site. They show up as links. Is there anyway to have them show as opened pages?
Thanks

Hi Andreco,
Thx for the reply. Yeah, there are manuals and I'm thinking maybe just leave as pdf links thhat can open up allowing viewing, printing, re-sizing , etc. We'll see what they want and what they will settle for. Thx for the suggestion, I have used it before but was really trying a work around to get the pdfs to open. As you stated , it is a tough one! Anyway......
Thx

Hi Andreco,
I spoke too soon. I have used scribd to publish before but after reading
your email more thoroughly, I am confused. I upload the pdf file. It shows
it as published( public or private) and then what? where do I find the
html5? I just seem to find where it is on the site or how to grab it.
Could you please be a little more specific? Thanks for the help. I know you
have done it before and I appreciate it
Thanks
Joe

No Troubles :)
If memory serves me right: When loading to Scribd, Private uploading means your file will only be accessible by accessing through your website... Public, however, seems to allow more print options etc.
After you've uploaded your doc... wait a few minutes for Scribd to convert your document. Then go to your "my documents" area (under your log-in name in upper right, all your uploaded docs should show there) and if a thumbnail shows up, your doc is ready for embedding.
Select share (blue link after your document description), copy the html5 code and paste to an html block in your site.

Hello again,
Andreco thanks so much. That's what I needed. I have been almost there but
missed a few key points. This is what I love about our community. Sometimes
we get bad rap but C5 is awesome. I develop in Drupal as well but my clients
prefer C5. It is much less threatening for them to edit.
thanks again

PDFs don't display on the site easily and viewers couldn't see them if they didn't have an Adobe reader.
Best work-arounds would be to convert the PDF to a different file format or image.
I've used Scribd frequently as a 3rd party solution. There's an add-on for this in the marketplace... or just open an account on Scribd, upload your PDF's there, copy the html5 code to a block in your site (a lot like displaying a Youtube video)
