Permissions for external links not inheriting

There seems to be a problem with Permissions on External Links pages.
Here's a brief description:
1) My site has Advanced Permissions enabled.
2) I have this page called "Products" and "Subpage Permissions" on this page are set to "Inherit the permissions on this page".
3) If I add a new Subpage to "Products", it's all good, permissions for the new page are OK
4) But if I add an External Link, all the permissions for the External Link are empty. I know I can manually set them but that's not really an option.
Any ideas?
