Puzzling issues with Global Scrapbooks

Hi There,

I've been building sites with c5 for under a year so am not sure if these issues are caused by my lack of understanding on how Global Scrapbooks work or not.

SETUP:
- Global scrapbook items have been setup for site-wide content from the control panel area
- Scrapbook items have been added to pages (sidebar, footer etc)

ISSUES:
- When I put the page into edit mode, global items no longer have an orange outline (just red)
- And when you edit them from the page, they don't display that global content warning
- I get a database error if I try to edit a scrapbook item from the control panel

Not sure what I' missing here but something doesn't seem right.

Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

Cheers

Ben

Are Global areas set up within page defaults?

Dashboard, pages and themes, page types, (pick a page) defaults.

Put Global scrapbook items into default page, (i.e sidebar).

Not sure you can place into footer, unless footer is outside of 'elements/footer' folder?

Red won't show 'Globally'

Did you pick 'set up child pages' from page defaults?

There is probably something else to do, I dare say a C5 guru will tell you!

Hope that helps

Thanks for that.

No, they weren't setup using page defaults - I tried (added to the defaults than tried setup on child pages) but it didn't seem to do anything to existing pages then new pages and old pages were out of sync.

Mine are in the footer - /elements/footer.php where I have areas defined (just like on template pages) and have added global scrapbook items to them.

Everything was working sweet for several months, but I noticed the other day that they don't seem to be global blocks anymore.

Now I'm kinda confused on how they work - but maybe as you say, you can't have them in the footer and header?

Cheers

Ben
