Question about Advances Permissions

Trying to wrap my head around advance permissions...let me know if I go this right:

Once I turn on Advance Permissions, I have to go to several different parts of the site to set permissions for a new User Group, correct? So if I make a group for Super Users, I need to go to the Site Map to set the pages that user can access/edit/admin, and I need to go to the File Manager to set File Manager Permissions, then I need to go to each Area on a Page and set Area Permissions.

Is that correct?

I believe if you set your initial, most frequently used, page permissions on the home page first and select all sub pages to inherit... you then only need to manually change the few pages that you need limited user interaction with... that way, not every page needs to be set manually.
Yes, on those manually changed pages you'd then set individual block permissions if necessary (block permissions don't need to be set unless multiple users need to be restricted from certain blocks) . You are correct about setting file manager settings separately.

That being said; You can set every aspect manually ( I'm too lazy to do that if not critical ;>) )

I see then.

Looks like I should have turned on Advances Permissions right away. I turned it on after having created all the pages in my site and now I'm having a hell of a time getting my client's user group to work correctly with the permissions I want them to be bound by.

Now I know for next time!

Thanks!
