Redoing certain sites in Concrete5
Permalink
My personal site is handwritten crap and seriously needs a CMS. It is not a blog. I'm going to try C5. Hosted in the same space, built with Dreamworks, no that's a filmmaking studio, Dreamweaver are some - what's the term - virtual sites, virtual hosts, subsites - see, I'm not enough of a WWW expert to really know what I'm doing! C5 looks good for someone like who's smart, knows html/php/css but doesn't make a career out of it; a causual web designer/builder.
I'd like to know what effort it will take and how close Concrete5 can come to replacing the current system for these sites: http://www.jeffcottwilson.com/ andhttp://www.jeffcottdesigns.com/.... Is there anything tricky in those sites that might cause scratching of heads and searching on Google that Concrete5 won't be able to handle right out of the box? How would we handle in C5 those images etc already uploaded to the host but stored, um, let's just say "randomly"?
Then, if those are going to be easy, I'm curious to know how it'll do if used to remakehttp://planets.ucf.edu/ which I built using Drupal. That CMS had too steep of a learning curve! I am glad to see other schools have nice sites done with C5; I have no doubt it's worth considering for the planets site.
