Reinstalling Concrete5

I have been having issues and bugs with Concrete5 on my own site, it worked fine for my clients, but it is just mine I am having issues with. I am sure when I installed it it didnt install quite right, edit page and add page buttons have stopped working and settings arent showing up, how do I set up my site to reinstall the core safely?

Regards

Matt

You can safely copy the core back to the /concrete directory (same version), nothing specific to your site is held in there.

Do i need to disconnect the database or put it into maintenance mode though?

If you're just copying over the top you shouldn't need to, though with any site maintenance a backup is always a good idea.

If you're going to first remove then replace files on a production site and your site will be down at times personally I'd consider a 302/307 redirect to a holding page if it was going to take a while.

Hope that helps

Do you have any idea why I cant operate the edit or add buttons by the way?

I've no idea, but if I had to guess I'd suggest that if you are missing files they'll be some of the javascript/jquery libraries. It could also be that something on your page like a block is conflicting/erroring.

Firebug or similar would help you identify what's going on in that respect.
