repairing & optimizing the database with phpMyAdmin
Permalink
Last night, using phpMyAdmin, I repaired and optimized the database to a 300+ page, 2400+ images, site. The site seems a little faster today. This is the first time I've done this, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had success with this, are there recommended optimization schedules, or anything else I need to know about optimizing the database?

I seem to remember someone posting a job that ran a mySQL repair. I don't think it was ever submitted to the PRB, just an attachment to a forum post.
Maybe this one?

Do you think it does the same thing as going into phpMyAdmin?
Mainly, I'm wondering if repairing/optimizing the database is beneficial, and if so, how often should I do it?

Looks like it is in the marketplace then.
As to whether it is worth doing, my (limited) understanding is that it all depends on the version of mySQL and how the database is set up. Optimisation may already be taken care of.
I think you need one of the real database experts to comment on that.

Cool - thanks for the input! Much appreciated.
