Replacing site name with company logo -- how in version 5.4.1.1?

I searched the forum, and could not find instruction on how to replace site name with a logo in version 5.4.1.1. -- all the instruction seems to be for older versions. Concrete5.org documentation is not updated.

It instruct to

"ashboard/scrapbook/global and change it to an image block "

However, there is NO global in scrapbook in the latest version.

Wonder if there is a good samaritan who can help me with this.

This is such a basic task that it's confusing why it is so difficult to get a current "how-to" on this neccesar step.

it's sad that so many walk away from Concrete5 just for this reason (at least it seems to me when i googled it).

Can anyone help?

i would like to do it WITHOUT modifying the php code in the theme -- im looking for a way to do this via the dashboard control panel

thanks in advance

Not to doubt your results....but? I'm using 5.4.1.1 on several sites and they all have a global scrapbook. I would assume you can't find documentation unique to the current version because it has not changed.
Path as follows: Log in, go to dashboard, select "scrapbook" tab from left hand column (fifth tab from top), under the Scrapbook page you should see under the scrapbook name area "admin's personal" on top and "Global" right below. If you choose Global, you'll see my_site_name that you can edit.

If these are missing, perhaps your upload was not complete or was corrupted?
Good luck on it!

Hi, thanks for your help ...

It seems that am not the only one unable to see the tabs you mention. Many people do not see the global thing in scrapbook

just see these threads

http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/themes/replace-site-name-...

http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/replacing-site-name...

http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/replacing-...

http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/missing-global-scra...

UPDATE:

if you use concrete5 hosting then all is well and you will see the global tab on the scrapbook, otherwise looks like concrete5 offers the script for download faulty to force yu to host it with them

ethic issue i guess

hope someone can help on this

aha!

looks like the FREE temp account offered at concrete5.org has the YOGURT theme already with the slideshow images AND the scrapbook global

but if you install it elsewhere (another host) then the download version will NOT contain these things

even if you use the script installers it will not work

seems like concrete5 really wants you to use their hosting service or else the script you download or instant install WILL HAVE THINGS MISSING

and thats why many are getting fustrated and walking out

why would they do that? Uhm....

If you don't have a global scrapbook entry for the logo it's probably because you didn't install sample content when installing the site. So just add a global scrapbook (doesn't matter what you call the scrapbook), then add an image block to that scrapbook and rename that block to "My_Site_Name" (without the quotes).

This has nothing to do with using C5 hosting or not. Many people (myself included) have a lot of success using Concrete5 to build sites -- but of course it's not going to be perfect for everyone (nothing can satisfy every person at every level of experience). I personally find it a lot easier to work with than any other CMS.

Once again, I am confused by how you come to such conclusions. I do not host through Concrete5 and have no affiliation with them other then being overjoyed to use their free-full-featured CMS system on 28 different sites, all hosted by other companies. ALL of them have all the features. Is it possible you are not uploading properly?

(I am honestly hoping you can get your install to work as it is designed. Please feel free to PM me directly from this site and I'll see if I can offer any assistance that may be beneficial)

Hi,

When I get home I will try the instruction above.

Also, did you see ALL those links to posts from people who are having the SAME issue as indentified in this post?

Imagine if they were simply told to (a) install the sample data or (2) do the above instructions.

now imagine if they were told that UPFRONT ...

Wow .... then many headaches would be prevented.

notice that none of those posts had the advise i received, so they probably moved on to other cms -- or worse yet: criticized it on various forums.

i have saw sites made with c5 ... they looked very nice

therefore, due to that -- and the fact that users on this forum have been very helpful and courteous -- i shall remain a c5 user and future supporter of it.

but im still sad that such a common error with many, yet the simple solution is never revealed upfront, in a read me text file, or ...

again, thanks for your kind assistance -- i shall try again when i get home

ps: you're a person with class (rather than put me down, you offered to help clear things up) -- thanks
