At the risk of appearing a member of the "dark side" are there any add-on's available, that people have found helpful in building sales/squeeze/opt-in type pages in C5? plz

there's the "opt-in" series of add-ons for both 5.7 and legacy. There are 3 versions: free, lite, and Pro.

Type "opt-in" in the add-on search box and there on top.
